Consular legalization of documents of Ukrainian documents in Ukraine
Consular legalization is one of the ways to give legal force to documents in order to use them abroad.
Unlike the apostille, it is used when working with bodies originating from countries that are not parties to the Hague Convention.
Compared to the apostille, it is a more complex bilateral procedure.
List of documents that undergo the legalization procedure in Kyiv, Ukraine:
- Certificate of birth, marriage, divorce, death, change of surname, extract of premarital surname, extract, statement, other documents of the registry Office, statement of marital status (affidavit).
- Educational documents (diploma, supplement, school certificate, report card, certificate, archival certificate).
- Statutory documents of legal entities (certificate of registration, charter, extract, resolution of directors), various certificates, licenses, contracts, agreements.
- Police Clearance Certificate, VMI certificate, medical certificate.
How to perform step-by-step consular legalization of certificates and documents of the Registry Office?
- The birth certificate must be certified by the Department of Justice of the area where the document was issued.
- Then the stamp of legalization of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is affixed to the original certificate.
- The certificate, already stamped, is translated into the language you need.
- The translation is notarized.
- A notarized translation is stamped first with the seal of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, then with the seal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
- After the above actions, the documents are submitted to the consulate for the final legalization procedure.
- The consular fee is paid.
Consular legalization of educational documents (diploma, school certificate)
- The diploma is translated into the language you need.
- A copy of the diploma and the translation are notarized.
- A notarized translation is stamped first with the seal of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, then with the seal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
- After the above actions, the documents are submitted to the consulate for the final legalization procedure.
- The consular fee is paid.
- The duration of consular legalization depends on the country for which the legalization of documents is carried out and averages up to two weeks.
