How to put an apostille on a diploma?

Studying and working abroad have long ceased to be exotic. However, do not forget about the formalities. Citizens of Ukraine who urgently travel abroad for the purpose of employment or continuing their studies need to take care of the legalization of the existing diploma.

You can legalize a diploma either with the help of consular legalization (if the country is not a member of the Hague Convention), or with the help of an apostille.

Apostille affixing is a simplified procedure for the legalization of documentation in countries that have signed the Hague Convention of 1961. At the moment, the number of countries that have joined it has more than 120 states.

Important! Please note that the apostille can be affixed only in the country in which the documents were issued. Therefore, if you, for example, graduated from a university in Poland, before returning to Ukraine, you must put an apostille on the diploma, otherwise it will not be recognized outside Poland.

Execution procedure
After receiving the original of your diploma, the Ministry begins the procedure of affixing an apostille:

• The authenticity of the diploma form itself is established, and the right of the educational institution to issue certificates of this type is also checked;
• A request is made for an apostille, which confirms the fact of a person’s education at this educational institution;
• The legality of signatures and seals on the document is checked.
